Block of Iron

What is a Block of Iron?

A Block of Iron is a metallic storage and decorative block in Minecraft, crafted from Iron Ingots. It has a smooth, silvery-white texture with a reflective surface, making it a versatile material for both industrial and medieval-themed builds. While primarily used for storing large amounts of Iron Ingots compactly, it is also an essential block for beacon pyramids and Iron Golem creation.

Where Can Blocks of Iron Be Found?

Blocks of Iron do not generate naturally and must be crafted by players. They are created by placing nine Iron Ingots in a square inside a Crafting Table.

Iron Ingots are obtained by smelting Raw Iron, which is mined from Iron Ore and Deepslate Iron Ore found underground between Y-levels -64 and 256. Iron is one of the most abundant resources in Minecraft, making it relatively easy to craft Blocks of Iron in large quantities.

Blocks of Iron can sometimes be found in Ancient Cities as part of treasure loot, making them a rare find in deep underground structures.

What Can Players Do with Blocks of Iron?

Blocks of Iron have multiple uses, including storage, crafting, beacon power, and mob summoning. Since Iron is needed for crafting many essential items such as tools, armor, and Redstone components, storing it as Blocks of Iron helps save inventory space. Players can convert Blocks of Iron back into nine Iron Ingots at any time, making them a flexible storage option.

Blocks of Iron are also used to construct Iron Golems, which serve as powerful protectors of villages. To summon an Iron Golem, players must place four Blocks of Iron in a T-shape and top it with a Carved Pumpkin.

Additionally, Blocks of Iron can be used as part of a beacon pyramid to activate powerful beacon effects such as Regeneration, Haste, and Strength. They are one of six mineral blocks that can power a beacon, along with Gold, Diamond, Netherite, Emerald, and Copper Blocks.
