Block of Raw Copper

What is a Block of Raw Copper?

A Block of Raw Copper is a compressed storage block made from Raw Copper, primarily used for compact storage and decoration. Unlike the Block of Copper, which has a smooth metallic surface, the Block of Raw Copper has a chunky, unrefined texture resembling copper ore embedded in stone. This makes it useful for mining-themed builds, industrial settings, and treasure hoards.

Where Can Blocks of Raw Copper Be Found?

Blocks of Raw Copper do not generate naturally and must be crafted by players. They are created by placing nine Raw Copper in a square inside a Crafting Table.

Raw Copper is obtained by mining Copper Ore or Deepslate Copper Ore with a non-Silk Touch pickaxe. Copper Ore generates between Y-levels -16 and 112, with the highest concentration around Y-level 48. Since Copper Ore is found in large ore veins, collecting enough Raw Copper to craft Blocks of Raw Copper is relatively easy.

What Can Players Do with Blocks of Raw Copper?

Blocks of Raw Copper are primarily used for storage and decoration. Storing Copper as Blocks of Raw Copper saves inventory space, making mining trips more efficient. Players can convert Blocks of Raw Copper back into nine Raw Copper at any time, allowing for flexible resource management.

Decoratively, Blocks of Raw Copper provide a natural ore-like texture, making them great for cave interiors, industrial warehouses, and ore stockpiles. Their rocky copper appearance allows players to build realistic mineshafts or treasure rooms filled with raw metals.

Unlike Blocks of Copper, Blocks of Raw Copper do not oxidize over time and cannot be used in beacon pyramids. Their purpose remains focused on storage and decoration rather than crafting or functional uses.

The History of Blocks of Raw Copper in Minecraft

Blocks of Raw Copper were introduced in Minecraft Java Edition 1.17, as part of the “Caves & Cliffs” update. This update changed how ores drop resources, introducing Raw Ore variants such as Raw Copper, Raw Gold, and Raw Iron, allowing players to mine and store metal resources more efficiently.

Interesting Fact or Real-Life Connection

Blocks of Raw Copper resemble real-world copper ore, which is mined from underground deposits before being refined into pure copper. Copper is one of the most widely used metals in history, playing a vital role in electricity, construction, and manufacturing. Just like in Minecraft, real-world copper must go through a smelting process before being usable in various industries.
