Smooth Purpur‌ (Bedrock Edition)

What is Smooth Purpur?

Smooth Purpur is a Bedrock Edition-exclusive decorative block that serves as a smoother variant of Purpur Blocks. It features a polished, refined texture, making it a great option for End-themed builds, futuristic structures, and elegant castles. Unlike standard Purpur Blocks, which have a subtle square pattern, Smooth Purpur has a cleaner, seamless texture that blends well with other smooth stone materials.

Smooth Purpur does not exist in Java Edition, making it a rare Bedrock-exclusive block.

Where Can Smooth Purpur Be Found?

Smooth Purpur does not generate naturally and must be crafted manually by players in Minecraft Bedrock Edition. To obtain it:

  1. Smelt a regular Purpur Block – Place a Purpur Block into a Furnace to obtain Smooth Purpur.

Since Purpur Blocks are crafted from Popped Chorus Fruit, players must first:

  • Collect Chorus Fruit from Chorus Plants in the End.
  • Smelt the Chorus Fruit to create Popped Chorus Fruit.
  • Craft Purpur Blocks from four Popped Chorus Fruits.

Once Smooth Purpur is obtained, it cannot be reverted back into regular Purpur Blocks.

What Can Players Do with Smooth Purpur?

Smooth Purpur is a purely decorative block, offering a sleek, polished look for builds. It is commonly used for:

  • End Cities and futuristic builds, complementing the existing End biome aesthetics.
  • Elegant palaces and modern structures, where its smooth, refined texture stands out.
  • Customizing End-themed bases, providing more block variety alongside Purpur Pillars and End Stone Bricks.
  • Fantasy and sci-fi builds, since its texture works well for otherworldly landscapes and alien-like architecture.

Unlike Smooth Stone or Quartz, Smooth Purpur retains its purple hue, making it ideal for unique color palettes.

The History of Smooth Purpur in Minecraft

Smooth Purpur was added exclusively to Minecraft Bedrock Edition, while Java Edition only has regular Purpur Blocks and Purpur Pillars. The addition of smooth variants of blocks (such as Smooth Stone and Smooth Sandstone) has been a trend in Bedrock-exclusive features, expanding building options for players.

Despite its existence in Bedrock Edition, Java players cannot obtain or craft Smooth Purpur, making it one of the few platform-exclusive building blocks in the game.

Interesting Fact or Real-Life Connection

Smooth Purpur resembles polished stone and marble used in real-world architecture, particularly in temples, palaces, and sci-fi concept designs. Its clean, futuristic appearance makes it a great Minecraft equivalent of smooth-cut sandstone or polished granite, often used in luxury structures.
