Board

What is a Board?

A Board is a decorative and interactive block in Minecraft Education Edition and Bedrock Edition with Education features enabled. It is used to display text messages, making it useful for educational environments, adventure maps, and in-game communication. Unlike Signs, Boards can display longer messages and come in three different sizes:

  • Small Board – Similar in size to a Sign.
  • Medium Board – Larger than a Sign, providing more space for text.
  • Large Board – The biggest, allowing the most text to be displayed.

Boards are only available in Creative Mode or via commands and cannot be crafted in Survival Mode.

Where Can Boards Be Found?

Boards do not generate naturally and must be obtained through commands. To get one, players need to use the command:

/give @p board

Players can also find Boards in the Creative Mode inventory when Education features are enabled.

What Can Players Do with a Board?

Boards are primarily used for displaying text, making them useful for:

  • Educational activities, where teachers can post instructions or information in Minecraft classrooms.
  • Adventure maps and storytelling, providing background lore, quest details, or NPC dialogue.
  • Communication in multiplayer worlds, displaying rules, announcements, or directions.
  • Puzzle games and escape rooms, where players must read clues or solve riddles.

Since Boards can hold more text than Signs, they are ideal for detailed explanations and structured learning experiences.

The History of Boards in Minecraft

Boards were introduced as part of Minecraft Education Edition, designed to help teachers and students communicate in learning environments. While Signs have been in Minecraft since early versions, Boards were added to provide more space for displaying text.

Interesting Fact or Real-Life Connection

Boards in Minecraft function similarly to whiteboards or chalkboards in classrooms, where teachers display information for students to read and reference. This feature enhances learning experiences in Minecraft Education Edition, making the game a powerful tool for interactive lessons.
