Beehive

What is a Beehive?

A Beehive is a crafted block in Minecraft that functions like a Bee Nest, housing Bees and producing Honey. Unlike Bee Nests, which generate naturally, Beehives are manually crafted by players and can be placed anywhere. They are useful for setting up beekeeping farms and harvesting Honeycombs and Honey Bottles.

Where Can a Beehive Be Found?

Beehives do not generate naturally and must be crafted by players. They are made using six Wooden Planks and three Honeycombs. Once placed, Bees from nearby Bee Nests will move into a Beehive over time, allowing players to relocate bee colonies. More details about crafting and Honey production can be found in the Bee Nest article.

What Can Players Do with a Beehive?

Beehives are used for farming Honey and Honeycombs. Players can collect Honey Bottles by right-clicking a full Beehive with an empty bottle or obtain Honeycombs using Shears. To avoid angering the Bees inside, a Campfire should be placed underneath before harvesting. Beehives allow for controlled beekeeping, making them useful for automated Honey farms and pollination setups. More details about bee farming can be found in the Honeycomb article.

The History of Beehives in Minecraft

Beehives were introduced in Minecraft version 1.15 as part of the Buzzy Bees Update. This update added Bees, Honey Blocks, and new farming mechanics, enhancing the game’s agriculture and automation possibilities.

Interesting Fact or Real-Life Connection

In real life, beekeepers use artificial beehives to house bee colonies and harvest honey safely. These structures provide shelter and help maintain healthy bee populations, much like Beehives in Minecraft, where players can farm Honey while protecting the Bees.
