Smooth Stone Bricks (Bedrock Edition)

What are Smooth Stone Bricks?

Smooth Stone Bricks are a Bedrock Edition-exclusive decorative block that features a cleaner, polished texture compared to regular Stone Bricks. Unlike normal Cracked, Mossy, or Chiseled Stone Bricks, Smooth Stone Bricks have a refined and seamless design, making them ideal for modern builds, castles, and strongholds.

Smooth Stone Bricks do not exist in Java Edition, making them a unique block exclusive to Minecraft Bedrock Edition.

Where Can Smooth Stone Bricks Be Found?

Smooth Stone Bricks do not generate naturally and must be crafted manually by players. To obtain them:

  1. Smelt regular Stone Bricks – Place Stone Bricks into a Furnace to convert them into Smooth Stone Bricks.
  2. Craft regular Stone Bricks first – Since Stone Bricks are made from regular Stone, players must:
    • Mine Cobblestone and smelt it into Stone.
    • Craft Stone into Stone Bricks (using 4 Stone in a Crafting Table).
    • Smelt the Stone Bricks again to create Smooth Stone Bricks.

Since they require double smelting, Smooth Stone Bricks are more refined and take extra resources to produce.

What Can Players Do with Smooth Stone Bricks?

Smooth Stone Bricks are purely decorative but provide a sleek, polished look for builds. They are commonly used for:

  • Castles and fortresses, adding a smooth, modernized look to medieval builds.
  • Modern and futuristic structures, where their clean texture complements Quartz and Concrete.
  • Elegant pathways and flooring, making strongholds and temples feel more refined.
  • Customizing bases, offering more variation alongside Stone Bricks and Smooth Stone.

Unlike regular Stone Bricks, Smooth Stone Bricks do not have Cracked, Mossy, or Chiseled variants, keeping their uniform appearance.

The History of Smooth Stone Bricks in Minecraft

Smooth Stone Bricks were added exclusively to Minecraft Bedrock Edition, while Java Edition only has Smooth Stone and regular Stone Bricks. This follows a pattern of Bedrock-exclusive block variants, such as Smooth Purpur and Glowing Obsidian.

Despite being a useful building block, Java Edition players cannot obtain Smooth Stone Bricks, making them a platform-exclusive feature that remains unique to Bedrock.

Interesting Fact or Real-Life Connection

Smooth Stone Bricks resemble real-world polished stonework, commonly used in cathedrals, castles, and ancient Roman architecture. The smooth-cut bricks in Minecraft replicate finely chiseled stone, which has been used in construction for thousands of years.
